[LOCATION OF INCIDENT]

300 East Joshua Road / Marina Drive

[INCIDENT NARRATIVE]

On 09/12/2025  at approximately 0115, deputies from the Macomb County Sheriff’s office were dispatched to the 300 block of East Joshua Road for reports of a subject with a firearm. Upon arriving at the scene I, Deputy Doe observed a white male later identified as BUTKIS/JAMES. I made contact with BUTKIS and took a formal statement of the incident. After receiving the formal statement, Deputies canvassed the area in an attempt to locate the subject. 

Deputies then located the subject at the 24/7 convenience store located on Alhambra Drive / Niland Ave. Upon making contact the subject took off from deputies. A foot chase ensued and the subject was then apprehended without further incident. A firearm was located on the subject as well as a wallet and phone. Inside the wallet was a Michigan identification card with the name DUELLER/MORGAN. The subject was positively identified as DUELLER. It was also determined that DUELLER did not possess a valid Michigan Concealed Carry Permit for carrying the firearm he was in possession of. 

DUELLER was transported and lodged at the Macomb County Jail on charges of ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON, CCW, and POSSESSION OF A FIREARM IN COMMISSION OF A CRIME.

It should be noted that this is DUELLERS second time being arrested for CCW

[CONTACT WITH BUTKIS]

I made initial contact with BUTKIS at the gas station at the corner of Alhambra Drive / Marina Drive. BUTKIS stated a white male wearing khaki pants and a black shirt was walking down the side of E. Joshua Road. BUTKIS said he stopped to ask if everything was okay due to the time of night. The subject then presented a firearm, possibly a glock style handgun black in color, and pointed it at BUTKIS and made a statement of “get the fuck away from me or i will kill you”. BUTKIS then said he drove off because he was in fear for his life.

[CONTACT WITH DUELLER]

I observed a white male matching the description of DUELLER walking out of the 24/7 convenience store. After attempting to make contact DUELLER took off on foot. Myself and Deputy J. Doe pursued DUELLER and apprehended him at the corner of Niland Avenue / Zancudo Drive. I secured DUELLER in handcuffs and read him his Miranda Rights. When asked if DUELLER would like to make a statement, he stated “fuck you pig i’m not talking to you”. With that statement being made, I did not conduct an interview with DUELLER.

The above incident was captured on my department issued MOTOROLA BODY WORN CAMERA as well as my department issued MOTOROLA IN-CAR DASH CAMERA.
